18:00 <belkinsa> Who is here for the meeting?
18:00 <Mikaela> o/
18:01 <pleia2> o/
18:01 <akk> o/
18:02 <belkinsa> Anyone else?
18:02 <belkinsa> Okay
18:02 <belkinsa> Agenda is here: http://wiki.ubuntu-women.org/Meetings/October2014/Agenda
18:03 <belkinsa> The first topic is not on it since I forgot to add it.
18:03 <belkinsa> #topic UOS 14.11
18:03 <amani_glugcal> o/
18:04 <belkinsa> The Ubuntu Online Submit is Nov 12 to 14th and I have already added our session to my list of tracks to run for the Community track. Is it possible to plan the time for it now?
18:05 <pleia2> in the past we've replaced our monthly meeting with an UOS event, so it we could grab Tuesday at 18:00 that would be great :)
18:06 <pleia2> (it's the 3rd tuesday rather than 2nd, but that often happens)
18:06 <belkinsa> You mean the 12th? Not the 11th?
18:06 <pleia2> no wait, it is the 2nd
18:06 <pleia2> yeah, the 12th
18:06 <belkinsa> The UOS is Wed to Friday because of the US holiday.
18:06 <pleia2> hmm
18:06 <pleia2> ah right
18:06 <belkinsa> So, will Wed the 12 at 18 UTC work than?
18:07 <belkinsa> then*
18:07 <pleia2> wfm
18:07 <belkinsa> WFM?
18:07 <pleia2> works for me
18:08 <pleia2> technically that will begin my first cycle I'm taking off, so I won't participate on video and will just kind of lurk in case anyone needs me for anything
18:08 <belkinsa> Ah. I will set that as for us.
18:08 <belkinsa> Alright, I will host it.
18:08 <belkinsa> I can, rather.
18:10 <belkinsa> Are we settled then on this matter?
18:10 <belkinsa> #action belkinsa Set the session for 1800 UTC on Nov 12th.
18:10 * meetingology belkinsa Set the session for 1800 UTC on Nov 12th.
18:13 <belkinsa> Moving on.
18:13 <belkinsa> #topic Blueprint for Utopic cycle: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu-women.org/+spec/community-1406-ubuntu-women
18:14 <belkinsa> I have no updates of my items.
18:14 <pleia2> please give away my harvest item
18:14 <pleia2> I'm sorry I haven't gotten to it, just overestimated the time I'd have :(
18:14 <pleia2> so if anyone else wants: Review Harvest bugs https://bugs.launchpad.net/harvest
18:15 <belkinsa> I can take it since I have to do it, but I will wait for the Haverst Item first
18:15 <pleia2> the procedure will be browsing through all those bugs and identifying a few ones that either: look easy, look useful, look important; so we can give that list to our developer volunteers
18:15 <pleia2> thanks
18:16 <belkinsa> Not a poblem.
18:16 <belkinsa> amani_glugcal, do you have an update on your item?
18:16 <amani_glugcal> I think work is going on
18:16 <belkinsa> Alright.
18:17 <amani_glugcal> Emma is doing the specs added to that
18:17 <amani_glugcal> the ggogle doc
18:18 <belkinsa> Which one? Is it shared between you two?
18:18 <amani_glugcal> the common one
18:18 <amani_glugcal> discussed on mailing list
18:19 <belkinsa> For the quiz?
18:19 <amani_glugcal> yes
18:19 <amani_glugcal> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ds5VKE9Dj-mYJnJ459YQk9DDdJ_ihZFJT-23jr4XV9c/edit?usp=sharing
18:19 <belkinsa> One sec
18:19 <belkinsa> #topic Orientation quiz discussion
18:20 <belkinsa> As most of the mailing list knows we have updated some of the parts of the quiz
18:22 <belkinsa> It has expended but we still have to work to do.
18:22 <amani_glugcal> yes
18:23 <amani_glugcal> my suggestion was to make it
18:23 <amani_glugcal> at different complexity
18:23 <amani_glugcal> levels
18:24 <amani_glugcal> the easier ones get done first
18:25 <belkinsa> I see and but it needs to branch to since people have different skills.
18:25 <belkinsa> As it does now.
18:27 <amani_glugcal> We can also add things that are done at gnewsense
18:27 <amani_glugcal> in advocacy
18:27 <belkinsa> Yeah.
18:28 <belkinsa> Science too.
18:30 <belkinsa> Which I do need restart the team for science
18:30 <amani_glugcal> that list is very inactive
18:31 <belkinsa> Yeah, it's my fault for letting the team down.
18:31 <belkinsa> Ubuntu Leadership too
18:32 <amani_glugcal> how do we motivate science people in specific domains?
18:32 <amani_glugcal> user base is big
18:33 <pleia2> belkinsa: I wouldn't put it all on yourself, it's hard to get teams going and it's the responsibility of everyone involved, not just the leader :)
18:33 <belkinsa> I don't know. Maybe we could ask the Scientists team that?
18:33 <belkinsa> pleia2, I know.
18:33 <elizabethporras> hi, i am sorry for The late. I am from Colombia, and I would love to participate and involve people from my country.
18:33 <pleia2> welcome elizabethporras :)
18:34 <belkinsa> Welcome, elizabethporras.
18:35 <elizabethporras> thanks plei2 and belkinsa
18:36 <amani_glugcal> but making the sci people contribute needs a broader team
18:37 <amani_glugcal> welcome elizabethporras
18:38 <akk> What kind of contribution are you trying to get from science people?
18:39 <amani_glugcal> improving all projects that they actually use/ customize/ hack_and_stop_at_that
18:40 <amani_glugcal> Example: people write lot of LaTeX Customizations but they don't take it seriously
18:41 <amani_glugcal> happens often in machine learning
18:41 <amani_glugcal> too
18:42 <belkinsa> Right.
18:43 <belkinsa> Should we take this to the mailing-list?
18:43 <amani_glugcal> of courseyes
18:43 <akk> It would be great to see discussions like that on the ML.
18:44 <belkinsa> #Action Move what we talked about to ML
18:44 * meetingology Move what we talked about to ML
18:44 <belkinsa> #topic ProjectHarvest Updates
18:45 <belkinsa> I was thinking about doing a sprint for the bugs that it has.
18:46 <belkinsa> What do you think?
18:48 <elizabethporras> yesterday I saw The Project Harvest page.... I am not pretty sure but The bugs that are linked not always are upate... I mean i clicked on a bug and when i was redirected to launchpad The bug had already been fixed.
18:49 <belkinsa> They are old since the Harvest is not development
18:50 <belkinsa> And that's why took it up as a project.
18:51 <belkinsa> And we need to sort out the old bugs to start the process of redevelopment
18:51 <elizabethporras> well... I think that here from Colombia some people can colaborate... including me... is a specific methodology?
18:52 <amani_glugcal> do u have a loco
18:52 <belkinsa> loco.ubuntu.com
18:52 <amani_glugcal> local ubuntu team in columbia
18:52 <elizabethporras> yes
18:53 <elizabethporras> Ubuntu Colombia
18:53 <belkinsa> How active are they?
18:53 <amani_glugcal> how many women?
18:53 <elizabethporras> https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-co
18:53 <elizabethporras> active women 3
18:54 <belkinsa> Who are they, if you can answer that?
18:54 <elizabethporras> in fact, toda y i am here un orden to learn and motivate
18:55 <elizabethporras> The 3 of us... are systems engineers...
18:55 <belkinsa> Ah.
18:55 <elizabethporras> dont remember right The specific profile links un launchpad....
18:56 <belkinsa> Okay, when do will want to the sprint for the bugs?
18:56 <elizabethporras> sorry.... for The autocorrection of my tablet
18:56 <belkinsa> And how to do it.
18:57 <elizabethporras> well... i think thta could be in a weekend
18:58 <belkinsa> That could work or on a weekday night UTC
18:58 <elizabethporras> maybe October 25.... and well... maybe you can suggest a methodology
18:58 <elizabethporras> mmm here doesnt work,.. cause here in Colombia is afternoon...
18:59 <belkinsa> Sure, via the ML or we can work on out via it also.
18:59 <elizabethporras> we are gmt -5
18:59 <belkinsa> Same here.
18:59 <belkinsa> EST?
18:59 <elizabethporras> we don use that time... just gmt -5
18:59 <belkinsa> Okay. I understand.
19:00 <elizabethporras> sure through the ML...
19:00 <belkinsa> Can I take this to the ML for more talk about this since we have more on it?
19:00 <belkinsa> #action Set up a sprint for the bugs
19:00 * meetingology Set up a sprint for the bugs
19:01 <elizabethporras> right
19:01 <belkinsa> #topic Any other business (AOB)
19:01 <belkinsa> ANyone?
19:02 <elizabethporras> I want to know... well I ask you for support in order to get more involved from my LoCo
19:03 <belkinsa> Sure, I can help you. I can cc the thread from UW ML to your's ML.
19:03 <elizabethporras> in the Ubuntu Women project
19:03 <belkinsa> Yeah, I was talking about both ML
19:03 <belkinsa> Your LoCo's.
19:04 <elizabethporras> well... I dont know if that is the best way... maybe.. I Think that if we can colaborate more... it is the way
19:05 <belkinsa> Okay, I'm very good in community work here in the COmmunity. this could work.
19:06 <elizabethporras> our LoCo mailing list recieves lots f mails... and I dont want that information mixed, cause I want it focused... having in mind that we are few womens...
19:06 <belkinsa> Then can I have those e-mails, via PM?
19:06 <elizabethporras> right
19:07 <amani_glugcal> I hope they are on UW ML?
19:07 <belkinsa> +1
19:07 <elizabethporras> yes i am
19:07 <belkinsa> How about they two?
19:07 <belkinsa> the wto others?
19:07 <elizabethporras> I am in the mailing
19:07 <elizabethporras> dont know if they are there
19:08 <belkinsa> Okay.
19:08 <elizabethporras> they collaborate but I want to involve them in this level
19:08 <amani_glugcal> We need more publicity of G+ UW
19:09 <elizabethporras> *colaborate in our community...
19:09 <belkinsa> amani_glugcal, +1
19:09 <amani_glugcal> for
19:09 <amani_glugcal> I will send invites outside group
19:10 <belkinsa> #action amani_glugcal Send G+ (outside) invites to the UW group
19:10 * meetingology amani_glugcal Send G+ (outside) invites to the UW group
19:11 <belkinsa> Any other matters?
19:11 <elizabethporras> from here, no
19:11 <belkinsa> Okay, anyone else?
19:12 <belkinsa> Safe to end meeting?
19:12 <Mikaela> link to G+ UW group?
19:13 <pleia2> it's a Page, not a group
19:13 <belkinsa> http://identi.ca/ubuntuwomen
19:13 <pleia2> belkinsa: that's not active
19:13 <belkinsa> Wait, wrong one
19:14 <amani_glugcal> https://plus.google.com/108721264946100842986/posts
19:14 <amani_glugcal> community
19:14 <pleia2> we lost the password when they did their change in authentication because we didn't have an email attached to it
19:14 <belkinsa> Who was the power to remove the link on the blog?
19:14 <pleia2> just just a page, not community/group - only admins can post things to it
19:14 <pleia2> belkinsa: you :)
19:14 <amani_glugcal> I am an admin
19:15 <belkinsa> Not a problem
19:15 <pleia2> belkinsa: log in to the blog, navigate to "links"
19:15 <belkinsa> amani_glugcal, want to remove ii?
19:15 <pleia2> delete the identica one
19:15 <pleia2> amani_glugcal does not have access to the blog
19:15 <pleia2> she was talking about G+ :)
19:15 <belkinsa> Oh, then I will do it
19:16 <belkinsa> #action belkinsa remove that Identica link on UW Blog
19:16 * meetingology belkinsa remove that Identica link on UW Blog
19:17 <pleia2> just to be clear with G+, only admins can post to it, it's not a community which anyone can post to, we can create one of those too but they are different things
19:17 <pleia2> I don't think randomly inviting admins to our G+ page is a very good idea
19:17 <Mikaela> Should someone create it now so it gets to meeting log?
19:17 <belkinsa> It will log it
19:17 <belkinsa> meetingology does
19:17 <meetingology> belkinsa: Error: "does" is not a valid command.
19:18 <Mikaela> I mean G+ group
19:18 <amani_glugcal> so do we create a UW icommunity for
19:18 <Mikaela> and link
19:18 <amani_glugcal> interaction
19:18 <pleia2> if you want, but we also have a facebook group that no one updates, and a forum no one uses, so I'd advise caution before creating yet another thing
19:18 <amani_glugcal> people can subscribe to current one
19:19 <Mikaela> I see
19:19 <pleia2> https://www.facebook.com/groups/ubuntuwomen/
19:19 <pleia2> http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=76
19:20 <pleia2> I'm not trying to be discouraging, but historically we haven't really had long term volunteers to keep these sorts of things going, which is why we really only have announce-only pages/accounts
19:20 <belkinsa> pleia2, no one really uses the forums.
19:20 <pleia2> belkinsa: or the facebook group (we do use the facebook page), that's my point exactly
19:21 <belkinsa> So, it seems that we are more IRC, ML based?
19:21 <amani_glugcal> But on G+ we have a few active members
19:21 <pleia2> amani_glugcal: yeah, there are a few folks who comment
19:21 <Mikaela> I am not sure about ML, but IRC seems to have had a little activity lately.
19:21 <pleia2> but that's a different thing than maintaining a G+ community, where the community creates content
19:22 <belkinsa> IRC has been quiet always for our group
19:22 <amani_glugcal> yes... it would be mostly announce + little more discussions
19:22 <belkinsa> amani_glugcal, for G+? Sure.
19:23 <amani_glugcal> yes for G+
19:24 <belkinsa> #action amani_glugcal Post more content on G+ UW group
19:24 * meetingology amani_glugcal Post more content on G+ UW group
19:25 <belkinsa> Are we set
19:27 <belkinsa> If so, thank you for coming.
19:27 <pleia2> thanks for chairing belkinsa :)
19:27 <belkinsa> #endmeeting
