 11:03 <vthompson> :)

11:03 <popey> So this week we don't have any design input due to them being at the design sprint

11:03 <popey> there's a couple of things to mention though.

11:03 <vthompson> Are they going to get feedback from Mark this week though?

 11:03 <popey> I believe so

 11:03 <popey> they're in Isle of Man

 11:03 <vthompson> Ok, that's great

 11:04 <vthompson> oh neat

11:04 <popey> I understand the ms2 ABI broke the tests for music app.

11:04 <popey> so todays image shows music app broken..

11:04 <vthompson> yea, that would have been nice to know beforehand

 11:04 <popey> indeed

11:04 <vthompson> It wasn't too hard to fix, though

11:05 <popey> so we'll push a new music app to the store before the end of today ready for next days image

11:05 <vthompson> On the positive side, we still need to determine if there's anything introduced we could make use of.. I'd imagine there is

 11:05 <popey> ok.

 11:05 <vthompson> hm, I thought 603 got pushed

11:05 <vthompson> Not sure who pushed it though

 11:06 <vthompson> OR I imagined it all

 11:06 <popey> store has 603

11:06 <popey> but the image has that, and the tests failed.

 11:06 <vthompson> ah... I haven't seen that

 11:07 <popey> image 211 has new mediascanner, 212 has music 603

11:07 <popey> ci dashboard appears to be swimming in molasses

11:08 <vthompson> Only took 1 minute to load for me, sigh

11:08 <vthompson> How do you know the tests fail on 212?

11:09 <vthompson> You ran them manually? They aren't on the dash yet

 11:09 <popey> oh, you're right

 11:09 <popey> i was seeing red

 11:09 <popey> but not finished

 11:09 <vthompson> Well, it is red. ;)

11:10 <vthompson> Let's hope that goes well. I'm pretty sure we'll be OK

 11:10 <popey> ok, groovy.

11:11 <popey> So on another note, we have 4 merges in the list http://people.canonical.com/~dpm/core-apps-sponsoring/

11:11 <popey> andrew has managed to climb up into the redzone again ☻

 11:11 <vthompson> ah, search support

11:11 <vthompson> He has started to focus on AP test refactoring

11:12 <vthompson> I do think it'd be better to focus on features, though

 11:12 <vthompson> Speaking of which

 11:12 <ahayzen> popey, vthompson, yo!

 11:12 <popey> hey hey

 11:12 <vthompson> Happy break, ahayzen

 11:12 <ahayzen> vthompson, o/ ... break?

11:13 <vthompson> er, break from work

11:13 <ahayzen> vthompson, oh 'lunch' :) yeah thanks nom nom food

11:13 <vthompson> popey, was just mentioning that the search MP is in the red: http://people.canonical.com/~dpm/core-apps-sponsoring/

11:13 <ahayzen> ah yes...needs upstream fix which is unlikely before rtm

11:14 <ahayzen> its on tim's list but he said it is far enough down it'll be post rtm

 11:14 <popey> ok

11:14 <popey> how about the others?

11:15 <vthompson> I see you asked for an ETA 2 days ago for the bug. Did you get one at all from Tim?

11:15 <popey> no, but seems ahayzen has data from tim that I didn't

 11:15 <popey> ^^

11:15 <ahayzen> vthompson, i talked to him like last week

11:15 <ahayzen> bottom-edge really we need to choose if we want it before rtm or just do it in the remix as there are big changes it is needs alot of QAing

11:16 <ahayzen> listitem-actions-artist probably needs tweaking a bit before landing...again if we want it in

11:16 <vthompson> I say we perhaps skip listitem-actions-artist given that we have new designs anyway

11:16 <ahayzen> trackqueue-speedup...i've managed to get it a bit faster offline but i need to investigate a random crash...again need to decide if we want now or in the remix

11:17 <ahayzen> and hopefully later today there will be ap-refactor-003 up \o/

11:17 <popey> i would anticipate that rtm will be pushed back a bit

11:17 * ahayzen is actually enjoying writing autopilot tests :)

11:17 <popey> given the current state of change

 11:17 <popey> hah, pervert!

 11:17 <popey> ☻

 11:17 <vthompson> lol

 11:17 <ahayzen> hehe

11:18 <ahayzen> vthompson, yeah i would agree to maybe skip listitem actions

11:18 <vthompson> How far back do you suppose RTM is getting pushed back?

11:18 <vthompson> Does this mean that we can expect more of a push from media-hub and mediascanner to introduce new stuff?

11:19 <popey> Maybe I mis-spoke, I don't necessarily think RTM is being pushed back as such.

11:19 <ahayzen> also i wonder if bottom edge should be done in the remix instead...as there are loads of hacks to get it to work...it would be nice to build the app (remix) from the ground up where we have thought about writing it with things such as bottom edge

11:19 <popey> Just that things are still landing.

11:19 <vthompson> The breakage from mediascanner involved at least 5 or so commits to their trunk on the 25th... seems like there was almost a push to get things finalized

11:19 <popey> I'll see if I can get some feedback on how much time we have left.

11:20 <ahayzen> vthompson, i've seen lots of media-hub stuff recently :) i know of some awesome stuff coming up....

11:20 <popey> I'd rather we focus on polish and tests rather than introducing anything new until the next design changes

 11:20 <popey> vthompson: yes

11:20 <vthompson> ahayzen, I kind of agree about bottom edge. I also wonder where it would even fit in the new design

11:20 <ahayzen> was talking to them yesterday while investigating that input works when screen is off bug (which turned out to be mir and already fixed)

11:20 <ahayzen> vthompson, isn't the plan todo what we have anyway? in the new designs

11:21 <popey> it could all change though, of course

 11:21 <ahayzen> yeah

 11:21 <popey> so I wouldn't bank on it.

 11:21 <vthompson> right

11:21 <ahayzen> popey, i've been concentrating on rewriting the autopilot tests lately anyway

11:22 <ahayzen> this next mp should finally get rid of our select_many_retry() which balloons will be happy about :)

11:22 <popey> so if any of the (non-AP) merges currently in the list aren't likely to land soon then lets set them WIP for now and re-vist after we get the new design?

11:22 <vthompson> Anything we should try to focus on in the last few weeks here? Maybe try to find and fix small bugs or work around them?

11:23 <vthompson> popey, ahayzen, I think they would all be WIP then

11:23 <ahayzen> popey, probably best...we have a remix series now is there anyway to target them for that or not?

11:23 <popey> ahayzen: it is hard to say, look how much the clock changed between clock and remix

11:23 <popey> I wouldn't like to second guess the design team

11:23 <ahayzen> ...i was thinking of making a blueprint or something just so we could list things

 11:24 <ahayzen> yeah

11:25 <ahayzen> silo 004 and 008 were the two related to media-hub/pulse that may be of interest to us

11:25 <ahayzen> Export media-hub players as proper MPRIS players and make them show up in the indicator (spreadsheet row 17). and Pulse: enable cork and ducking (spreadsheet row 51).

11:25 <vthompson> popey, do you have an idea when the larger thumbnailer art will show up?

 11:25 <ahayzen> +1

 11:25 <popey> no, I haven't seen a merge for it..

11:26 <ahayzen> vthompson, also i wonder how we will work with silo 003 'Add local artwork support back to thumbailer (spreadsheet row 9). Tested with image 207.'

11:26 <ahayzen> vthompson, it would be cool if we could use local artwork as default and then fallback to internet provided art

11:26 <vthompson> ahayzen, perhaps the idea is that it'd be transparent to us?

 11:26 <popey> I suspect so

11:26 <ahayzen> vthompson, reading the mp it didn't seem so,...

11:27 <vthompson> popey, as a side note music_app for image 212 is syncing now and is green, 21/21

11:27 <ahayzen> vthompson, you put the source as image://thumbnailer//home/USERNAME/Music/path/to/your.mp3

 11:27 <popey> vthompson: BOOM!

 11:27 <ahayzen> \o/

 11:27 <popey> Nice work chaps!

11:27 <ahayzen> vthompson, so we both managed to touch things in autopilot and not break anything :)

11:27 <vthompson> ahayzen, oh, do you know for sure that's the image provider? I guess that makes sense because they wouldn't know by album and artist

 11:27 <vthompson> I forgot, you're probably right there

 11:28 <ahayzen> vthompson, just scanning through https://code.launchpad.net/~jpakkane/thumbnailer/embedded-album-art/+merge/231207

11:28 <ahayzen> vthompson, hint ..read the comments

11:28 <ahayzen> vthompson, i guess it would return an error if it doesn't load? so then we can fallback to our current one?

11:29 <vthompson> I don't know, but we really should provide feedback on the MP

 11:29 <ahayzen> we should

11:29 <vthompson> It's been approved but not merged yet

 11:29 <vthompson> I'll reply needs info

11:30 <ahayzen> popey, vthompson i think it is landing? http://people.canonical.com/~platform/citrain_dashboard/#?distro=ubuntu&q=landing-003

11:30 <ahayzen> thts wht i read from the status?

 11:30 <popey> yeah, in flight

 11:30 <vthompson> 2014-08-18?

11:31 <vthompson> Did it go into a silo the second it was proposed as a MP?

11:31 <ahayzen> vthompson, by the looks of things

11:32 <ahayzen> oh and FYI when the next mir build appears in a silo we need to test that input leaking through the screen when off bug

11:32 <vthompson> nice, that will be a welcomed fix

 11:32 <ahayzen> yep

11:33 <ahayzen> popey, so basically just focus of polish for the next few weeks?

11:34 <popey> Well, I expect us to get a design update within the next week or so

11:34 <popey> But yes, bug focus is key.

11:34 <ahayzen> popey, is there an official deadline to when the last packages can make rtm? or will it continue developing after as we get feedback?

 11:34 <popey> No.

 11:34 <popey> Not currently

11:34 <popey> Things are somewhat in flux

11:34 <popey> I'll try and get a firm date but that seems to change a bit every time I ask ã‹›

11:34 <ahayzen> ok understood ... just the 'end of august' deadline that i was previous told is sortof well now ;)

 11:35 <popey> Indeed

11:35 <vthompson> There is one bug I've been meaning to report. Currently the mediascanner model's return data that isn't case insensitive

11:35 <ahayzen> what side affects does this have?

11:35 <vthompson> I'll do so, but perhaps we can manually work around it.

11:36 <vthompson> Things in Aritsts, Songs, etc get listed 0-9, A-Z, then a-z, so items that start with a lower case letter appear at the end of the list

 11:36 <ahayzen> ...really...

11:36 <ahayzen> vthompson, oh did u see they added sort support to the queries at the c++ level don't know if it made qml...

11:37 <ahayzen> vthompson, hang on i'm sure i have an album all lowercase that appears in the correct place

11:37 <vthompson> Yep, you might be unlikely to have an artist that is lower case, but if you go to your songs tab you'll probably see it

11:37 <ahayzen> vthompson, and have you checked if SortFilterModel that we use in some places to sort is actually not causing it?

 11:37 <vthompson> I've not

11:37 <ahayzen> or whether that could be used to fix it...

11:38 * ahayzen badly needs to make the jump to utopic on his desktop

 11:38 <popey> i did this week

 11:38 <popey> wise.

11:38 <vthompson> I was hoping I could use that to fix it

11:38 <ahayzen> vthompson, i suspect it will fix it...just my phone is stuck at the apparmor-parser stage so can't check...

11:39 <ahayzen> popey, any problems yet? or is it as solid as a rock as usual?

 11:39 <popey> nothing major

 11:39 <ahayzen> 'major'...suggesting minor?

 11:39 <popey> yes

 11:39 <ahayzen> heh

11:40 <vthompson> Well, my VM is still getting regular kernel upgrades... I'd consider that kinda major

11:40 <ahayzen> popey, oh and has ur network manager on ur phone actually decided to choose the right wifi access point more often recently?

11:40 <popey> no, it still grabs the farthest one

11:41 <ahayzen> vthompson, my vm had a strange error when i last tried to upgrade...something about unity-schemas wanting to overwrite something unity-common made

11:41 <ahayzen> popey, hmm mine still *sometimes* does just not as often

 11:41 <popey> hmm

11:41 <vthompson> ahayzen, I've been lucky... my VM is still chugging along

11:41 <ahayzen> arg latest image is stuck at 'unity 8 dash' and spinning circles

11:42 <vthompson> popey, do you know if this "Orientation Lock" in System Settings actually does anything at the moment?

 11:42 <popey> nope

 11:42 <popey> not hooked up

11:42 <popey> everyone loves switches though

11:42 <ahayzen> vthompson, all my data has been 'titled' so can't test at the moment i'll try later with some lowercase stuff

11:42 <vthompson> haha, well I'm sure it caused about 1000 people to sit there flipping there phone back and forth like a madman for a few seconds

 11:43 <ahayzen> popey, u tried the latest image (212) ?

 11:43 <popey> yes

11:43 <popey> am on it now

 11:43 <ahayzen> vthompson, haha i certain did

11:43 <ahayzen> popey, does your dash work?

 11:43 <ahayzen> *certainly

 11:43 <popey> yes

11:43 <ahayzen> popey, mine is just sitting at the 'unity 8 dash' loading screen

 11:44 <popey> hm, odd.

11:44 <vthompson> ahayzen, unity on utopic really doesn't like you

11:44 <ahayzen> at least trusty trusts me :P

 11:45 <popey> oh, i lied, i'm on 211

 11:45 <ahayzen> maybe i shouldn't have cat'd the whole of unity8.log.....

 11:45 * ahayzen waits patiently

11:45 <vthompson> ahayzen, my upgrade to 212 went smoothly

 11:45 <ahayzen> damn u

 11:45 * popey updates to 212 now

 11:45 <ahayzen> ApplicationController::primaryPidForAppId FAILED to get PID for appId= "unity8-dash"

 11:45 <ahayzen> doesn't look good

11:46 * ahayzen remembers 'have u tried turning it off and on again' from The IT Crowd last night..

11:46 <vthompson> ahayzen, yea, and if that doesn't work try reflashing 212

 11:48 <ahayzen> its working!

 11:48 <popey> 212 is fine here

11:48 <ahayzen> must have been some random issue

11:48 <ahayzen> ooo shadows on the department selector...

11:49 <ahayzen> popey, vthompson anything else we need to talk about?

 11:49 <popey> I had nothing else.

11:49 <vthompson> ahayzen, nothing from me

11:49 <ahayzen> and header items in the music scope...

 11:49 <popey> yeah ☻

11:49 <vthompson> "keep landing the things"

11:49 <popey> you can set favorites now

11:49 <ahayzen> same nothing from me :)..i'll try and push that ap-refactor up tonight

 11:49 <popey> great!

 11:49 <ahayzen> 003 :)

11:49 <ahayzen> hopefully will all be done by refactor 5/6 lol

 11:50 <popey> ☻

 11:50 <popey> Ok, thanks chaps

 11:50 <ahayzen> thanks :) have a great weekend guys :)

 11:50 <vthompson> thanks guys!

 11:50 <ahayzen> omg favourites!
