checkinstall a wrapper to "make install", useful for installing programs you compiled. It will create a .deb package, which will be listed in the APT database and can be uninstalled like other packages. compositor-#xubuntu <reply> To disable Xfce's built-in compositor, go to Settings Manager → Window Manager Tweaks → Compositor. To fix tearing, you can try Compton instead, for which Xubuntu includes default settings. Added by somerville32
